Family—The Circle of Life—God’s Gift to Us
Almost four years ago I lost my precious grandmother, Maude Isabelle Gibbs, a month before her 99th birthday. Grammie loved babies and children more than almost anything, but she didn’t live long enough to know her great-great granddaughter would be born 2 ½ years after she left us. We were so blessed when our son and his wife chose to give little Kate the middle name of Isabelle…after not only our son’s great-grandmother who he’d known and loved for 30 years, but also after his wife’s grandmother, who had the same name. When I learned what they were doing, I decided to honor my grandmother as well, by naming one of my important, sweet secondary characters after her in the book I was writing, Wishing on Buttercups. It’s the second book in my Love Blossoms in Oregon series.
I’m so thrilled that God gives us creative ways to continue the circle of life—through new births, new books, and loving memories. Above is a picture of me with Grammie taken 2-3 years prior to her passing, and here is one of little Kate and her daddy. She’s the new love of our lives and turns one year in April.
