Synopsis

If there is one part of the Bible that has undergone more scrutiny and abuse than any other, it is the very beginning—Genesis.

Both from within and outside the church, assaults on Genesis continue to question the Creation and ultimately the Creator. So, what exactly happened at the "Creation," at the "Beginning?" Creation Today and Seven Fold Films is proud to announce that for the first time ever, using stunning visual effects and the latest in scientific research, Genesis will come to life right before your very eyes. We have heard the phrase "In the beginning" many times; now we get to see it on the big screen.

Dove Review

What would it be like to discover that the truth about something taught and retaught to you throughout your life, something so fundamental that it colors every thread of your worldview, something so foundational it determines who you believe yourself to be… what would it be like to see that thing unmasked, to realize that thing is a phenomenal mistake? For over 200 years, we have been taught "the theory" is fact, that science and modern culture bow to the philosophies of chance and time, that the product of those philosophies resulted in our existence through the nebulous thing called evolution.

Enter producers Eric Hovind, Bill Harrity and Ralph Strean. Their exquisitely produced documentary “Genesis: Paradise Lost” takes us on the incredible journey of Creation; we are quickly swept back in time, enlightened with fact upon scientific fact as the bust of Darwin slowly crumbles. We experience the glorious unfolding of Creation from the beginning as narrator Dr. Voddie Baucham Jr.’s deep, resonant voice proclaims, word for word, the six days of Creation in Genesis. Our senses are pierced with the first created light. We are ushered over earth’s tumultuous waters, awed by the surging of land through the watery deep. We sail with the first birds through valleys and expanses as magnificent jungles spring up around us, as animals out of dust storms run. We feel the pounding of elephant feet as God creates with a word. And finally, we witness the greatest creation of all, man in His image.

Strategic structure plays an important part of the film, the experts laying out the science behind each day of creation, interweaving interestingly staged interviews with CGI that engulfs the audience. The use of 3D is a brilliant feature for this movie. Just as engaging as the visual aspects of the film, are the cases for Creation shared by the scholars. We are compelled by experts who hold doctorates in astronomy, geology, geophysics, microbiology, creation science, Old Testament and molecular biology, among other scholars, to take a deeper look at the data, placing our public school training under the glass. We are surprised to learn of soft tissue finds in the center of a T-Rex femur bone, and I’m not talking about Kleenex. Genesis’ "stretching out" of the universe is explained to us, corroborated by astronomy. We are enlightened about the age of rocks and fossils, and how the current process to determine their ages has been found to be lacking. The realization washes over us—science supports Genesis. The armpits of the evolutionists are a little bit sweaty. (Biology sciences).

Ultimately, we find the creationist worldview is supported by evidence. As Dr. Charles Jackson puts it, “It’s not just faith, we have science. It’s really on our side.” The phenomenal mistake is just that. This visually rewarding film is a milestone that can be watched and re-watched, earning the Dove Seal for All Ages. An added, articulate invitation by these brilliant minds to know Christ is given at the end of the film.
