Synopsis

Based on the popular cartoon character of the same name, "Inspector Gadget" is a wild and quirky adventure comedy about a naive, inept security guard, John Brown whose big heart is equal to his far-fetched dream to become the world's best police officer. Unexpected circumstances make him the ideal candidate for a top-secret law enforcement project, and pretty scientist, Dr. Brenda Bradford applies her expertise in robotics to build him into a man of many talents...and accessories. Using a vast array of grafted-on gizmos and doohickies to bust the bad guys, the often-clueless Inspector Gadget must employ his common sense to crack an especially complex case.

Dove Review

This is a live-action recreation of the popular cartoon series, which featured the voice of Don Adams as the bumbling cartoon version of "Inspector Clouseau." Matthew Broderick assumes the role of John Brown, aka "Inspector Gadget." Kids will love the film and it does include a love interest between Gadget and Dr. Brenda Bradford (Joely Fisher) so the adults may enjoy this romantic twist.

The film does contain a lot of fantasy-type violence such as explosions and crashing cars, and there is one scene in which Gadget is asked for an autograph and he lets loose with all of his gadgets and frightens a young boy. This scene would probably be the only real intense scene which might frighten youngsters. Otherwise, they will no doubt enjoy the inspector's head bounce up and down like a bobble head and they will most likely enjoy the action sequences. With a caution for parents to consult our content listing below, we approve the film for all ages.
