Decepticon forces return to Earth on a mission to take Sam Witwicky prisoner, after the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers. Joining the mission to protect humankind is Optimus Prime, who forms an alliance with international armies for a second epic battle.
This film makes the mistake of overkill. It lasts two and a half hours and could and should be trimmed down to ninety minutes. There are way too many fights and battles as well. I know a lot of young people and "Transformers" fans enjoy the battles, and the special effects in this film are amazing, but seldom, if ever, does a battle begin and work its way up to intensity. Most of them are in-your-face battles which continue on for too long, then you have a brief break, and then it's back to new drawn out battles again. Shia LaBeouf is funny as always but unlike the first film, which just missed receiving our Dove Seal due to excessive language, this one not only has a ton of language but is stronger in the sex content than its predecessor.
The film does nicely feature the theme of loyalty in relationships, but we regret that due to the sex and language categories listed below, as well as the drug category, we are unable to award our Dove "Family-Approved" Seal to this movie.
