In the tradition of Pollyanna and Little Women, Christmas Oranges tells the touching story of an orphan girl named Rose (Bailee Johnson). As a baby, Rose is taken in by the gentle and gracious Mrs. Hartley (Nancy Stafford) of Greenwoods Orphanage. But after a bout of influenza takes the life of Mrs. Hartley and Rose’s best friend, the remaining children of Greenwoods are separated, and Rose is sent to live at Irongates under the authority of Mr. Crampton (Edward Herrmann). Although Irongates is a cold place to live, Rose finds joy in the simple things, including the oranges Mr. Crampton’s benevolent brother promises to bring each of the children on Christmas.
How this brings more to life: Christmas Oranges is a quality, tender tale for the family, based on a classic Christmas custom.
