The Law of Love
“And you shall observe all my statutes and all my rules, and do them: I am the Lord.” Leviticus 19:37
While reading through the book of Leviticus, it’s fairly clear to see how easy it would be to get caught up in all of the rules and rituals of Christian service, even to the point that obedience to God no longer seems a blessing but a burden. But by focusing on all the “does” and “don’ts,” we often miss the “I AM.”
In three chapters alone in the book of Leviticus, the phrase “I am the Lord your God” is repeated over 20 times. Why? Because if we truly know whom we serve, if we truly know who the Lord is, we would want to obey Him at all times—out of fear, out of love, out of gratitude.
This week, don’t just get to know the Word of God; get to know the God of the Word. May our prayer be that we “only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all [our] heart. For consider what great things he has done for [us]” (1 Samuel 12:24).
Have a wonderful week in Him!
