What Makes God Listen?
by Elaine Helms
Our Father God desires our fellowship so much more than we seek His. He is eagerly waiting for us to call out to Him. God makes a number of promises, with conditions, about our prayers. To improve our two-way dialogue with Him, He gives us clear guidance in His Word. Some of God’s promises include the following.
In Jeremiah 29:12-13, God reveals the importance of having an undistracted heart to be heard when He says, “Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
In Psalm 145:18 God emphasizes the importance of truth. “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.”
In Jeremiah 33:3, He promises, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Some name this verse, “God’s phone number.”
How encouraging it is to know that God not only listens and hears our prayers but He answers them too!
