The Beauty of Fall

“Fall has always been my favorite season.  The time when everything bursts into its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.” Lauren Destefano

Living in New Mexico for several years provided our family a breathtaking view of the Santa Fe mountains. Our first fall, I awakened one morning to see that the mountains were no longer their rich deep green. I almost felt breathless as I saw that the Aspens had transformed into their fall colors. I had heard that I must take a trip up to the top of the ski basin to really appreciate all its beauty. My advisors were absolutely correct.

Soon, I was annually taking family members or friends with me. We would oh and ah, all the way up the mountain. Only to stop and take a picture or two, or three, as we feasted on the multiplicity of colors that only God could have created. When we arrived at the top we would feast our eyes on the thousands of Aspen trees, in their majestic proclamation across the mountain ranges. Every annual trek caused me to ponder, once again, as we drove down the mountain, the love that God has for us, by providing such magnificent beauty for our pleasure; that prompts in us a greater depth of gratitude.

Psalm 48:1 “Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised in the city of our God, upon His holy mountain.”
