A Spark of Encouragement
A reason to celebrate someone or something ignites a fire in my spirit and charges my organizational queen spirit. I love planning the meal, decorating the table and providing a unique way for us to engage as friends and family.
I want the celebration to lift our spirits as we eat and share of what’s been happening since we last saw each other or met a new friend. We talk of new insights we have discovered or why this holiday strikes a memory of years gone by.
For the newest mom, it might be the joy of her little one’s first steps recently. For the six year old, it might be the excitement of telling everyone that he will be playing T-ball on a team for the first time. Maybe the teen who has been passionately writing for several years has just received an affirming review from an editor. Mom found a fabulous new recipe that she made for this gathering and everyone loved it. Dad, grandpa, uncle, aunt or friend share a childhood memory, or they found their favorite shoe on the internet, a verse in their Bible that was just for them on a particular day, or they discovered a high school friend recently on Facebook they’ve been enjoying.
High fives, a round of applause, words of encouragement and affirmation flow after each person has shared. Hopefully, everyone leaves that evening feeling like the fireworks went off in their hearts like they did that night in the sky. And the words of love and affirmation will come to mind in a moment when it feels like their fireworks just fizzled out.
I Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
