Around this time each year, fans, music industry professionals and artists are gearing up to honor some of the best in Contemporary Christian and Gospel music at the GMA Dove Awards, which is a live event held at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the awards will be celebrated a little differently this year with a series of virtual events. Fans can find out more at

Annually, the GMA Dove Awards celebrate the contributions of artists from every style of Christian/Gospel music. Nominees are determined by GMA’s professional members, and winners are voted on by the entire GMA membership.

The nominations for this year’s event, 51st Annual GMA Dove Awards, were previously announced at a program in August. Leading the artist nominations are Zach Williams and for KING & COUNTRY with five (5) nods each, including Artist of the Year.

In other nominations, Hillsong Worship, Kirk Franklin, and Jonathan McReynolds were recognized with four (4) nominations each.

Notable first-time nominees for the 51st Annual GMA Dove Awards include Kanye West (3), Gloria Gaynor (2), We The Kingdom (3), and Unspoken (2).  For a full list of nominees go to

“The GMA is honored to continue its legacy of celebrating our diverse creative community and the music that moves us and ministers to us all, especially during these trying times,” said Jackie Patillo, president of the Gospel Music Association.

Due to COVID-19, in lieu of the association hosting its annual awards show on TBN live, the show will be a variety of unique pre-recorded performances and acceptance speeches. Watch for more details at
