Are You Limiting God?

SummerReadinglogo2013Vicki“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Way back when I was a child, my dream was to grow up and marry a rancher. I grew up watching the cowboy shows of the 1960’s with my dad, and fell in love with all things western. I even wrangled my parents into buying me a horse.

As I grew up and married—a computer geek, not a rancher—I learned that my plans were not always God’s plans. He blessed me with a home in the city and four sons. Life wasn’t easy, but it was good. We always struggled to make ends meet, and for years, I prayed for God to give me an idea for a home business.

He answered that prayer by guiding this gal who’d hated English and history in school to become a writer of historical fiction. Crazy! Right? When I first started writing, I thought over and over: who am I to write a book? I had no confidence that I could accomplish what God was asking of me. But I persevered, and nearly 30 books later, I look back and am amazed at all He’s done and how He has used me to touch others through fiction.

Is God asking you to stretch beyond what you feel is possible? I encourage you to for it! Obey His calling and be amazed at what He will do.
