The Heart Behind You Play I Pray
by Kylie Sanches
You Play I Pray (“YPIP”) was born out of what looked like a season of defeat in my husband’s 15-year professional baseball career. Looking back, we can clearly see the hand of God preparing and positioning us for something far greater than what we could have imagined. In 2012, we stepped out in faith and shared our message through a simple T-shirt. The response we got was overwhelming. God continues to grow YPIP as a platform that opens doors for others to share their faith.
I love that YPIP is encouraging wives and moms to fully understand the importance of their role, even when it may be behind the scenes. Our hearts set the tone of the home. And apart from the Lord, that can feel like an overwhelming responsibility. Of all the hats worn by a woman, the one of a praying parent or wife holds the most power to impact their future. Prayer is the greatest gift a woman can give to her family. Many may not know where to start or how to pray. I was once there! It was through other Christians living out their faith in the world of professional baseball where we came to know Christ. It was as if He were pursuing us before we knew how to pursue Him. The fear of uncertainties during those years taught me that my devotion to prayer was all I could control.
YPIP also helps serve as a reminder to believers that they have an opportunity to reach the lost by simply living out their faith. Our prayer for YPIP is that the Lord would reach hearts in the same way ours were forever changed. From amateur to professional athlete, piano player to wrestler, to the toddlers playing on the playground, the words “You Play, I Pray” are an encouragement to anyone with a dream and to every loved one who supports them.
