End-of-School Picnic
When I was growing up, every year on the last day of school, we would walk with the neighboring family to a local park. It was time for a picnic, time to celebrate a year of accomplishments and time to enjoy the prospect of a relaxing summer.
I will never forget the picnic when our principal drove by. He happily informed the moms of the group that they could have us for the summer. It was a good-hearted comment for sure. Our little group was not made up of troublemakers, but my momma’s heart was quick to intervene.
“I want to spend time with you,” she assured my sister and me. “I’m glad it is summer.”
I’m sure that our Heavenly Father feels the same. He longs for the times that we come away with Him for fellowship, guidance and prayer-conversation with Him.
What about you and your family? Have you planned time to get away from the busyness of life to spend time with God this summer?
