For centuries, writers, poets, and musicians have sung the praises of love—the need for it, the importance of it, the meaning of it. But what is love? A feeling or an emotion—something you can fall into and then out of just as easily.
According to I John 4:9-10, “God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.” Verse 10 continues by saying, “This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”
Do you think you might be good enough to deserve God’s love? Or perhaps you wonder how God could love you at all? God’s love is not based on what you can do for Him, but on what He has done for you.
Romans 5:8 says, “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Because of His love for us, God sent His Son Jesus to take our place. In Him, we have forgiviness, eternal security, a personal relationship with God. In Him we have a love that lasts forever.
