Finding Balance and Health in an Unbalanced World

It is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. If you are anything like I am, you judge how good your day went by how much you accomplished. I still do this, but I try to set realistic goals that won’t have a negative impact on my health. I discovered the hard way that too much work isn’t healthy.

In 2018, I made it a priority to find balance in my life both professionally and personally.  Basically, I worked too much and neglected good health practices such as eating right and exercising. I realized that I needed to make changes and guess what? They worked. I am now far more relaxed, I’ve lost a good deal of weight, and I feel better all around.

I focused on eating whole foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables. I cut out processed foods as much as possible, and I reduced my sugar and caffeine intake. I made it a priority to exercise daily, and during this time I would either listen to a podcast, read for pleasure, or watch some kind of home improvement show. Taking the time to do this at noon gave me the boost I needed to get through the remainder of my workday.

If balance is something you struggle with, I encourage you to set realistic goals that will help you achieve balance. Don’t strive for perfection, simply do the best you can and let that be good enough.
