“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland . . . I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise. I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”

by Louie Giglio

When God led His people out of bondage in Egypt they soon came to what seemed like a dead end at the edge of the Red Sea. The people were so bewildered they cursed God saying, “Could we not have died in Egypt? Did you have to bring us into the wilderness to meet our end?” Yet as it turned out, the desert and the sea were just opportunities for God to show His great power to His people. It’s likely you have felt the same way at times, up against insurmountable odds. But God doesn’t even blink at the roadblocks in front of you. In one miraculous motion, He parted the sea before His people and led them through on dry ground. And God can part your “Red Sea” if and when He wants to. God has already torn down the biggest obstacle we will ever face, the veil of our sin that separated us from His holy embrace.  He will, in the same way, lead you through every challenge you will ever face.

Waiting Here for You

Once He Came in Blessing
Once He came in blessing,
All our sins redressing;
Came in likeness lowly,
Son of God most holy;
Bore the cross to save us;
Hope and freedom gave us.

Come, then, O Lord Jesus,
From our sins release us.
Keep our hearts believing,
That we, grace receiving,
Ever may confess You
Till in heav’n we bless You.

-Johann Horn, c. 1490–1547
Translated by Catherine Winkworth, 1827–1878, Stanzas 1 & 4

Father, I am made by You and formed for Your praise. By Your mercy—and for Your name’s sake—You erased my record of sin. I am face-to-face with obstacles where there seems to be no way out, no way forward, and no way through. Yet You have made a way to freedom. I am confident You will lead me through what I am facing today. I will wait in hope for You. Amen.
