“God Will Take Care of You…”
Years ago, I can recall singing a hymn that contained comforting words: “Be not dismayed whate’er betide. God will take care of you.” That promise means a lot to me today as I see the chaos within our borders and around the world.
Things may get worse before they get better. We have no guarantee for the short term. But the Creator has a plan, and whether we see the consequences of that plan as good or bad for us right now, the ultimate outcome is just as God would have it.
I look at my own life and where God has taken it. Things seemed to be going well for me when my wife of forty years experienced a sudden intracranial bleeding episode and hung unresponsive in a coma for two weeks before she died. That was the worst time of my entire life. Nothing good could come of it. But it did.
Just as I was retiring from a career in medicine, God led me to a new activity— writing. The results have exceeded any expectations I might have had. My book, The Tender Scar: Life After The Death Of A Spouse, has been in publication for over a decade now, ministering to tens of thousands of hurting individuals. I’ve been fortunate enough to have numerous articles and meditations published in several periodicals. And my tenth novel of Christian medical fiction, Medical Judgment, is about to be released.
Did I envision any of this? Absolutely not. But God knew. What happened in my life is a reminder that, whatever happens, God will take care of His children. And that’s enough for me.
