Integrity: Don’t Leave Home Without It!

What character quality do you value most in others? I’m sure you could name several right away. But for sure the one that you probably appreciate most is integrity. A man or woman with integrity is truthful and trustworthy. They have convictions. They say what they mean, and mean what they say. They do the right thing for the right reasons even when no one is watching–even at great cost or sacrifice. An unknown but insightful source once said: “A person is not given integrity. It results from the relentless pursuit of honesty at all times.”

Here’s another maxim: Like attracts like. So, if you are looking for integrity in others, first look to yourself. Are you building your life on integrity? Here are a few steps for living with integrity in the coming year:
1. Realize the value of integrity. It is priceless. It can’t be bought, only earned.
2. Choose the Bible as your standard. What does God’s Word say you should do?
3. Allow God to examine your heart. Don’t trust your own self-examination.
4. Evaluate each decision. Does this choice affirm integrity?

Do you want your new year to be blessed by God? Then remember that whatever the task and whatever the result, if it is done with integrity you have achieved something significant in God’s eyes.
