Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Journey member Jonathan Cain released his latest solo effort this month, The Songs You Leave Behind from Identity Records with distribution from The Fuel Music.

The project was inspired by his first memoir, Don’t Stop Believin’: The Man, the Band, and the Song that Inspired Generations, which became a bestseller following its May 1 release (Zondervan).

The new album features 19 tracks with a collection of new and older material, including the hopeful title track about one’s legacy, “The Songs You Leave Behind.” Equally as strong musically, the song also features guitarist Miles Schon (the son of Journey guitarist Neal Schon).

Another new song on the project, “What Else Have I Missed,” is dedicated to Cain’s children and highlights the talents of Grammy Award-winning songwriter Gary Baker and legendary steel guitar player Dan Dugmore.

Never-before-released songs on the project include “Waitin’ On The Wind,” “Crossing The Great Divide,” “Shine,” “Mixed Blessings” and “The Day They Became Angels.” “The Day They Became Angels” reflects upon the tragic school fire in which 92 of Cain’s grade-school classmates died. Cain first performed the song during the standing-room-only Memorial Mass, marking the 50th Anniversary of the fire at Holy Family Church in Chicago.

Other tracks on the new album include tunes that have appeared on Cain’s previous solo albums Anthology (2001) and Back To The Innocence (1995). The songs were recently remastered at Cain’s Addiction Sound Studio in Nashville by producer/mixer David Kalmusky.

The songs provide the soundtrack to Cain’s remarkable story and offer behind-the-scenes details of his 36-year career with one of America’s most iconic rock bands. To find out more about the book and album, visit
