Kids will get an especially warm welcome this Saturday, March 19, when bookstores open their doors to a fun-filled time of activities planned just for them!

Imagine laughter and happy chatter as children have fun, explore faith, and realize “This Christian bookstore is a place for me. I like it here.”

Participating stores are looking forward to helping families prepare for Easter and helping children learn more about just how much Jesus loves them.

Again this year, members of Christian Authors Network (CAN) are helping retailers develop plans for a great Kids’ Day. CAN authors who write for children and parents have created a variety of original activities for children to do while their parents shop, plus helpful parenting articles for stores to distribute.

Activities for children include puzzles, crafts, excerpts, a science project, and coloring pages, all based on books from Christian authors Mary Hamilton, Karen Whiting, Marsha Hubler, Crystal Bowman, Diane Stortz, Kathy Cassell, Jeanne Dennis, and PeggySue Wells.

Handouts for parents this year include tips for talking with children, serving with children, praying on a busy day, a devotional for single parents, finding good Easter films, helping kids exercise, and Bible journaling, from authors Mary Hamilton, Sarah Hamaker, Sherry Kyle, Grace Fox, Jeanette Hanscome, and Ted Baehr.
