Raindrops from Heaven
I sat in my La-Z-Boy and gazed out the living room window. The landscape, severely parched due to a long-lasting drought, reminded me of my current circumstances—food stamps, Medicaid, facing foreclosure, my husband’s serious medical diagnosis.
In my spirit I sensed God speaking to me. “Twila, the rain is coming. The rain is coming, and it’s for you. Revel in the rain. Splash in the puddles. Delight in the deluge.” It’s a message I’ve received often over the years, and whenever it rains I claim it’s raining for me.
Expressing the significance of God’s message to me is difficult, but my heart has no trouble interpreting its meaning. With each raindrop He intimately communicates His love and faithfulness. I’m aware of His power, presence, purpose, and so much more.
Hosea 6:3 says, “Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”
I’m grateful that as I seek God, He is faithful to appear. He comes to me like the rain, and His presence renews, refreshes, and showers me with the reality of who He is.
How does the rain speak to you?
