Teamwork in Marriage

Couples of the BibleGod is worthy of your plans and dreams. He has a mission especially designed for you as a couple. Together.

Aquila and Priscilla are never mentioned separately in the Bible. They were teammates. They did everything together. They worked in their tentmaking business, were exiled from their home, relocated

from Rome to Corinth after taking a treacherous boat trip, joined a new fellowship of believers, volunteered to host Paul in their home, and then joined him in ministry for sixteen years.

Have you and your spouse ever talked about why you married each other? Sometimes in retrospect those reasons make you smile. His athletic ability. Her beautiful hair. But have you thought about what God had in mind when He chose you for each other? Aquila and Priscilla are a picture of teamwork in marriage.

God’s plan for your marriage is to glorify Him. Can you imagine that He drew you and your spouse together to serve Him . . . together?

When you and your spouse volunteer to do something beyond yourselves, the results are more significant than just feeding homeless people, encouraging shut-ins, tutoring inner-city kids, or building a school somewhere in the developing world. As husband and wife, doing ministry in Jesus’ name binds you together in sacred ways that cannot be measured.

Like Aquila and Priscilla, when you serve others in God’s name, empowered by the Holy Spirit, you will experience His miraculous presence. A self-focused marriage is a hollow marriage. But fulfillment comes when a couple joyfully serves God.
