The Big Picture
I had promised myself 2017 wasn’t going to be another year of calendar frenzy. So, I bought a new calendar 15” x 24” that allows me to use a sticky note (attached to the side of the calendar) to post on the days I have something planned. If there should be a change, instead of erasing or using white out, I use another sticky note, or not.
This was put into action recently when I received a call to reschedule an appointment. I loved just pulling off the sticky note and placing it on the new date. No scratch outs, erasing or other unruly alternatives. I know it is old school. So, please note that I use my phone calendar too. However, there’s something about a big calendar on my desk that makes me feel like I’ve got the big picture and a sense of where my day, week or month, ok, my life in general, is going.
However, in those moments of brief satisfaction, it isn’t long before a much bigger calendar comes to mind . . . like all the plan of events that have transpired with our incoming President or the transition of a new pastor in our church. Then, Jeremiah 29:11 comes to mind as I put my plans, our church and our country into His hands, feeling assured by our all-knowing and loving God who proclaims, “I know the plans I have for you, plans for good and not for evil, to give you hope and a future.” Praying you feel His reassurance today as you view your life’s calendar.
