The Right Tool to Win
“I’m an ice sculptor,” the passenger seated to my left in the airplane said, “And I’m coming home from the world competition of ice carvings in Japan.”
“Tell me, did you win?”
“Well,” he said, “at first the contestants from other countries poked fun. They said, ‘Hey China man, where’s your power saw? Are you gonna use that hand chisel?'”
He did. That’s all he had. With chisel in hand, he carved the figures of three small dogs watching a Filipino man cutting open a coconut.
In the contest of life, we also need one tool—God’s grace. It’s His grace that gives wisdom to know how to begin, provides strength for the journey, and puts joy around the medal of triumph.
