Transforming Presence

We all want the same thing: a true, biblical, transforming, Christ-honoring experience of the indwelling Spirit of God. And our society desperately needs the real thing. Younger generations are turning away from the church faster than any other age group, with a third of Americans between 18 and 35 choosing no affiliation with religion. Instead, many are being drawn to astrology and the occult.

We cannot afford to keep “putting our best flesh forward” through a reliance on the mega-tools of modern ministry. Nor can we embrace any kind of quasi-mystical, extrabiblical misrepresentation of the power of the Holy Spirit. We must reawaken our understanding, and resolve to experience the promise of “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27) for the sake of a culture that is confused and held captive by darkness.

The good news is that our Lord Jesus Christ wants the best for us—more than we want it for ourselves. His Spirit can empower us again to “turn the world upside down” (see Acts 17:6) through the message of the gospel. I pray this book will equip us to align with His desires. Let us embrace the truth of all He has destined for us through a distinctly gospel experience of His indwelling, transforming experience.
