We Missed You
by Cheri Cowell
As I entered my local bookstore, I smiled at the sign in the window that said, “We Missed You, Come on in…” It is nice to be missed and noticed we’ve been gone.
One of the things this pandemic has caused is an interruption in our normal checks and balances on each other, and we can’t readily see when someone is missing. But many are. They are here, on this earth, but they are missing in a pool of depression. They are missing in a fog of grief. They are missing in a sea of doubt and fear and despair. The only way we can see them is to do that old-fashioned thing and make a phone call.
But where to start? First, make a list of all the people you know, and every day determine to call one person just to check-in. Or ask the Lord to bring to your mind the person needing your call today. For an added joy, while at your local bookstore, pick up a few books to lift the spirits of those in need. Do a porch drop or ask the bookstore to mail it. You never know–you may be the lifeline someone needs.
