Wedding Plans and Prayers
My 26-year-old daughter will marry her sweetheart on August 17th after a mere five-week engagement. Ultimately we’re praying for God to be glorified in the wedding and marriage. But we’re also praying for His involvement in the details that will enhance the special day. I stand in awe at how He’s answering.
We prayed for an outdoor venue, and God provided a country home with a yard that resembles a park. It hosts several weddings each summer, but our date was still available.
We prayed for a caterer within our budget. God answered. We asked for three bridesmaids dresses to be available despite the late notice. This was a challenge, considering one of the bridesmaids is eight months pregnant, but God answered. The seamstress at the bridal shop was too busy to alter the bride’s gown, so God provided a Christian woman who—you guessed it—alters bridal gowns at a fraction of the other’s cost.
“Be still and know that I am God,” says our heavenly Father (Psalm 46:10). His words restore calm when my stress-o-meter rises. They remind me that He—the mountain-mover—reigns. I can bring my concerns to Him and trust Him to resolve them. Everything’s under control, and all is well.
The wedding’s only a few days away, and I suspect prayers a-plenty will rise between now and then. I also suspect I’ll see prayers a-plenty answered. I’ll record some in my blog—join me there to stay tuned!
