You are Loved

As a doctor of medicine, I have been asked by some of my colleagues how I can be so certain of the existence of God. Perplexed, I can only counter with how can they be so sure of His nonexistence?

Science, medicine and faith are popularized as a false dichotomy. The more I learn about how the body works, and at times doesn’t work, only expands my appreciation and awe of our mighty creator and how much He loves us. I have watched from the bedside, caring for the sickest of patients who defy the odds in their survival. I would like to think I had a hand in their recovery. I know full well that my knowledge and abilities are limited. My eyes can only look heavenward.

He has woven in our strands of DNA such enormous complexity. The smaller the units in our bodies are reduced, the complexity of its order does not. There is aGod's Wonderous Machine whole universe packaged in the bundle of skin we are encased. Take just the blood vessels alone in our body. If we were to put them end to end, it would wrap around the earth 2 ½ times! It is important to appreciate the care and love in which our bodies were created. God has placed His fingerprints all over you!

I so cherish the words in Romans 8:37-39, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” You are loved, beloved. Now go and live likewise.
